Become A Delegate

The Democratic Party will select its presidential nominee at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which will take place from August 19-22, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.

Prior to the national convention, individual state caucuses and primaries are held to allocate convention delegates. To read more about the 2024 primary schedule click here. These delegates, along with superdelegates who come from the party leadership, vote at the convention to select the nominee.

The 2024 Democratic presidential nominee will be selected by delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The national nominating convention is the formal ceremony during which the party officially selects its nominee. The delegates are individuals chosen to represent their state, territory, or Democrats Abroad at the convention.

Democrats in the Northern Marianas will host their Presidential Primary from March 5-12 to elect delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The convention will nominate the Democratic Party candidates for President and Vice President of the United States of America.

The final day of the NMI primaries on March 12 will be held on Saipan, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, with simultaneous sub-primaries on Tinian & Rota with additional details coming soon.

Individuals interested in becoming delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention pledged to one of the Presidential candidates are encouraged to download the Delegate Candidacy form, complete the form, and email it to NMI Democratic Party Chair Jonathan P. Cabrera at

In 2024, there are an estimated 4,532 delegates: 3,788 pledged delegates and 744 automatic delegates—more commonly known as superdelegates.

To win the Democratic nomination, a presidential candidate needs to receive support from a majority of the pledged delegates on the first ballot: an estimated 1,895 pledged delegates.
